One of the most common issues that people come to therapy for is anxiety. Anxiety manifests itself in a variety of ways, but some of the most common symptoms include excessive worry, difficulty sleeping, panic attacks, feeling on edge, irritability, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension, and living in excessive fear. Some people experience anxiety across various domains of their lives, whereas other people might only experience anxiety in the context of social situations.
I have found that anxiety is often driven by some history of trauma in the client. Trauma comes in many forms. It does not have to be a life threatening trauma to be significant or to have a negative impact on a person.
I use EMDR Therapy as my primary treatment modality to treatment anxiety and trauma. I incorporate a lot of mindfulness exercises and practices to help people cope with anxiety symptoms.
Anxiety does not have to control your life anymore.
